Dr. Rabi Biswas is a Paediatric Endocrinologist practicing as a Consultant in Endocrinology and Diabetology.
He is an Associate Professor in the Department of Paediatric Endocrinology and Metabolic Disorders at Bangladesh Shishu Hospital and Institute, Dhaka.
He completed FCPS in Paediatrics from Bangladesh College of Physicians & Surgeons (BCPS) and M.Phil from The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK).
He also had higher training in Paediatric Endocrinology (PET) from the Indian Society for Paediatric and Adolescent Endocrinology (ISPAE).
He acted as executive councilor of the Asia Pacific Paediatric Endocrine Society (APPES). He is a life member of ISPAE.
He is currently working as Organizing Secretary of the Paediatric Endocrine Society of Bangladesh (PESB).
He is also practicing as a Paediatric Endocrine Consultant at Digilab Medical Services, Rampura branch, Dhaka during evening hours.
He has over 30 years of experience in managing patients with general Paediatrics and over 15 years in Paediatric Endocrinology.
He has expertise in the comprehensive management of all types of paediatric & neonatal endocrine disorders and diabetes including emergencies.
Important endocrine problems he commonly deals with include thyroid diseases, short stature, vitamin D deficiency disorders including Rickets, early & delayed puberty, gynecomastia, and polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS). He has managed several uncommon endocrine disorders such as Addison disease, Cushing's syndrome, diabetes Insipidus, parathyroid disorders and hypopituitarism. He provides consultation for all types of abnormal genitalia (disorders of sexual development-DSDs) including congenital adrenal hyperplasia and micropenis in children. He has also expertise in the management of metabolic diseases such as diabetes mellitus, obesity, hyperlipidemias, and young-onset hypertension. Different syndromes especially related to endocrinology are also his area of interest.
He actively participated and presented papers in many endocrine conferences at home and abroad. He has won several prestigious awards throughout his long academic and medical career. He has been awarded best oral research paper presenter by the Paediatric Endocrine Society of Bangladesh. He has several publications in high-impact national and international journals. He is a popular face in child health-related talk-show and a regular writer on health issues in many daily newspapers. He is also working as a reviewer for many renowned scientific journals and contributing to book chapters.
